Generations of Excellence in Catholic Education
Mrs. Miriam Shingle has taught K-8 Classroom Music and Choir for 16 years, and has been giving private Piano lessons since 1995. She originally joined the St. Agnes faculty in 1995-1998 as both Piano instructor and substitute K-8 Classroom Music Teacher. After gathering additional years of teaching experience at local SS. Simon and Jude and St. Monica schools, she returned to St. Agnes in 2011 as a Piano instructor. She also gives private lessons in her home and two other studios.
Having received her B.S. in Music Education from West Chester University, along with PA teacher certification in K-12 Music, she has since taken Graduate music studies from West Chester, Immaculata and Villanova Universities. Her training has also included several years of Orff-Schulwerk music teacher workshops, and each summer, utilizes her Orff Certification for student enrichment at local music Composition camps.
Mrs. Shingle currently presides as the President of the Main Line Music Teachers Association, a local chapter of Music Teachers National Association. Monthly attendance at these piano teacher meetings and clinics keeps her teaching skills fresh while connecting with colleagues. It is her hope to impart to her students the joy of music-making and love of piano-playing, while encouraging their skills for success!
