Generations of Excellence in Catholic Education
For over 145 years, Saint Agnes School has prided ourselves on the ability to meet the academic needs of our students. However, as medical professionals, educators, and psychologists have become more educated in developing strategies to meet the diverse needs of today’s students we came to the realization that our school needed to be equipped with 21st-Century Classrooms.
In our quest to be on the cutting edge of education, we now provide our students with flexible and collaborative seating within all of our classrooms to meet their individual needs.
Children need to move and by providing them with flexible seating which allows them to move and increase their oxygen flow to the brain. An active brain stays more alert and focused during instructional time. Flexible seating encourages students to find their perfect spot within the classroom to learn, focus, and stay self-disciplined.
A flexible learning environment not only keeps students on task, but it also results in less behavioral issues thus creating stronger academic performance and improved standardized test scores. We have found that a student’s desire to perform better occurs when given the opportunity to initiate a decision to explore flexible seating in an accessible learning environment.
The Archdiocesan Educational Fund (now known as Ambassador's Fund for Catholic Education) awarded Saint Agnes School a grant in the amount of $50,000 for flexible seating in 2019!!
