Dress Code

  

The following articles are REQUIRED to be purchased through Flynn & O’Hara: jumpers, kilts, all polos, sweaters, and shorts.

PLEASE be sure each item of clothing that can be marked is marked with the student’s name . . . PLEASE!

The St. Agnes School uniform is worn by every child in Grades 1 to 8 and should be worn with a sense of dignity and pride. To realize this goal the uniform is as follows:

BOYS 1st through 8 th grade:

  • Pants: Straight-legged navy blue dress pants with a belt! No corduroy pants. The “fad” of baggy pants and no belt at the waist is not our dress code! Please enforce this at home for us!
  • Short: (Flynn and O’Hara) Optional in grades 1 through 5 and may be worn with shirt or polo shirt from August to October 15/May 1 through June
  • Shirt: blue or white shirt worn with a solid-colored, navy blue tie
  • Polo: (Flynn & O’Hara) blue or white polo shirts with no tie – Optional in grades 2 to 8 from August to October 15/May 1 through June – Grade 1 may wear these year round – short or long sleeved
  • Shoes: ONLY blue, black, brown, or cordovan penny loafers, docksider, or oxford (lace at instep of foot)No sneakers or boot-style shoe of any kind are permissible. No shoe above the ankle is permissible.
  • Socks: solid navy socks – NO tennis type socks – socks must be crew socks
  • Sweaters: (Flynn & O’Hara) All students, grades 1 to 8 are required to wear a navy blue sweater vest, crew neck or V-neck sweater with the St. Agnes insignia on the article from October 16 through April 30

Girls 1st through 5 th Grade:

  • Jumper: (Flynn & O’Hara) plaid jumper no shorter than 2” above knee
  • Short: (Flynn & O’Hara) Optional in grades 1 through 5 and may be worn with shirt or polo shirt from August to October 15/May 1 through June
  • Shirt: blue or white shirt with pointed, plain or buttoned-down collar
  • Polo: (Flynn & O’Hara) blue or white polo shirts – Optional in grades 2 to 8 from August to October 15/May 1 through June – Grade 1 may wear these year round – short or long sleeved
  • Shoes: ONLY blue, black, brown, or cordovan penny loafers, docksider, or oxfords (lace at instep of foot)No sneakers or boot-style shoe of any kind are permissible – NO shoe above the ankle is permissible – NO platform shoes are permissible
  • Socks: solid navy blue anklet or knee socks; anklets may be worn from August to October 15/May through June and must cuff well above the ankle; NO tennis-type socks
  • Tights: blue tights are acceptable in the winter months and are encouraged for use at that time of year.
  • Sweaters: (Flynn & O’Hara) All students, grades 1 to 5, are required to wear a navy blue sweater vest, crew neck, V-neck, or cardigan sweater with the St. Agnes insignia on the article from October 16 through April 30.

GIRLS 6th through 8 th grade:

  • Kilt: (Flynn & O’Hara) plaid kilt skirt no shorter than 2 inches above the knee!
  • Shirt: blue or white shirt with pointed, plain or buttoned-down collar – It is inappropriate to wear a tee shirt under their uniform blouses.
  • Polo: (Flynn & O’Hara) blue or white polo shirts – Optional in grades 2 to 8 from August to October 15/May 1 through June
  • Shoes: ONLY blue, black, brown, or cordovan penny loafers, docksider, or oxfords (lace at instep of foot)No sneakers or boot-style shoe of any kind are permissible – NO shoe above the ankle is permissible – NO platform shoes are permissible
  • Socks: solid navy blue anklet or knee socks; anklets may be worn from August to October 15/May 1 through June and must cuff well above the ankle; NO tennis-type socks

HAIRCUTS/HAIRSTYLES

  • Hair should be neat, clean, and well groomed, away from eyes. A traditional classic cut of reasonable length is expected; a “fad” haircut will not be acceptable; please ask when in doubt!
  • Tails, shaved parts of the head or hair below collar or hair falling into the eyes are not acceptable styles for the boys or girls (center part hairstyles are discouraged for this reason).
  • Natural hair color may not be altered even by a shampoo or rinse.
  • No student may wear makeup, nail polish or fake nails at any time. If they come to school with makeup, nail polish or fake nails, they will be asked to remove it/them by the teacher.

JEWELRY

The only jewelry students may wear is: a plain watch, a SINGLE ring, a religious medal/cross. Only a single set of small, simple earrings in the lower lobe and ONLY by girls. Hair accessories, if worn, are to be SIMPLE in nature. ONLY the above is accepted!

Any violation of the dress code will result in an after school detention, at the least.
