ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL POLICIES

In order to provide good order and safety for the children, the following regulations should be observed:

  1. The front of the school is reserved for buses. No child may ever be dropped off or picked up directly in front of the school on Gay Street!
  2. Those persons picking up students at dismissal are asked to please ENTER by the NEW STREET ENTRANCE. Cars must form a single line straight up to gate, when this row is filled cars form a row between middle row of the parked cars first; next between the parked cars and Kelly Building and last row is between parked cars and New Street wall. If a student is late – he/she is not present when dismissal begins – the dismissal supervisors will demand that car to pull out with the moving traffic and park in the area in front of Thomas Patrick Hall. WE HAVE LITTLE IF ANY OPTIONS IN THIS AREA. COOPERATION FROM ALL IS THE ONLY SOLUTION! AWAIT SIGNAL from the teacher in charge for exiting by Darlington Street. For the safety of the children it is essential that everyone observe the ONE-WAY TRAFFIC PATTERN.

Failure to comply with the above policies will result in direct intervention by the Principal or designated school staff member. A written reminder will be given to anyone violating these policies; a copy will be kept on file in the office.

Home and School Association

The St. Agnes Home and School Association is an organization of teachers and parents working together for the betterment of the school and its students. Since its founding in 1972 it has grown into a strong and invaluable asset in helping the school achieve its goal of a quality Catholic education for the children.

The Association helps to keep parents updated and informed through general membership meeting programs and discussions.

All parents of children in St. Agnes School automatically become members of the Home and School Association through payment of your school fee.

One important contribution the Association is making is in the area of voluntary assistance. Many of the programs and services provided by the school could not be offered without volunteer help. You may obtain further information about the Home and School Association or about the volunteer program by contacting any one of the following Board Members:

TRANSPORTATION

Buses

Schedules are arranged by the respective school districts. Families are notified of their bus schedules through postcards issued by their district or calls from the school. Further questions concerning bus routes, schedules, etc. must be directed to the specific School District Transportation Office in writing.

Any changes in address resulting in bus changes must be directed to the school office. We will forward all changes to the proper district.

There is no fee for bus transportation since this is provided by the state under Act 372.

All students are expected to ride only assigned buses. Exceptions must be requested in writing by parents of both students involved and must be approved at the school office. Requests (notes) must be brought to the office in the morning for approval. However, even with parental permission, students will not be permitted on another bus without approval of the individual bus driver since some buses are more crowded than others!

Also, students may NOT ride a bus from another school district other than the district within which they live. This is mandated by the school districts!

Bus Behavior

Students riding school buses must conduct themselves in an orderly fashion and be respectful to the bus drivers and the safeties at all times.

The following regulations are understood to be essential:

  1. Be courteous, use no profanity
  2. Do not eat or drink on the bus
  3. Keep the bus clean

  6. Remain seated while bus is in motion
  7. Keep head, hands and feet inside the bus
  8. Bus driver is authorized to assign seats
